Create a chart based on the table in Project 7. The legend
should display the four employee names; the x-axis (horizontal) should display
the months; the z-axis (vertical) should display the values. Create a chart
completing the following steps:
Open Project 7.
Save the document with Save As and name it Proj16.
Position the insertion point in the Employee Name
cell in the table.
Select the part of the table that you want to appear
in your chart (not your title or totals columns).
Click Insert, point to Picture, and then click Chart.
When the datasheet and chart display, click outside
the chart and the datasheet. (This closes Graph and removes the datasheet.)
Delete the table in the document by completing the following
steps:
Position the insertion point in any cell in the table.
Click Table, point to Delete, and then click Table.
Size your chart so that you will see all the months listed
on the x-axis by completing the following steps:
Change to the Print Layout view.
Change the Zoom to Whole Page. To do this, click the
down-pointing triangle at the right of the Zoom button on the Standard
toolbar, and then click Whole Page at the drop-down menu.
Click the chart to select it. (If black sizing handles
display around the chart, right click the chart and then click Show Picture
Toolbar. Click the Text Wrapping button on the Picture toolbar and then
click Through at the dropdown list.)
Drag the middle sizing handle at the right side of
the chart to the right until you see all the data.
Drag the middle sizing handle at the bottom of the
chart to enlarge the chart.
With the chart still selected, position the arrow
pointer (displays with a four-headed arrow attached) inside the chart,
hold down the left mouse button, drag the outline of the chart to the
middle of the page, and then release the mouse button.
Click outside the chart to deselect it.
Change the Zoom back to 100%. To do this, click the
down-pointing triangle at the right of the Zoom button, and then click
100% at the drop-down menu.
To change the data series, you must display the Chart
Options dialog box. First, double click the chart. (This displays the chart
in Graph.)
Close the datasheet.
Add a chart title that displays in 16-point with a font
color other than black by completing the following steps:
Select Chart from menu toolbar, then choose Chart
Options.
Type in the chart title at the Chart Title text box.
Click OK to close the Chart Options dialog box.
With the title still selected, right click on top
of the title to open the Format Chart Title dialog box.
With the patterns tab selected, pick a background
color for the title.
Select the font tab, click 16 point, and then choose
a font face and color of your choosing.
Click OK to close the Format Chart title dialog box.
Following the above directions, add a fill color other
than white to the legend.
Format the z-axis labels with a font color other than
black.
Format the x-axis labels with the same font color as used
for the z-axis.
Change the Number style to Currency with Zero decimal
places for the z-axis labels by following the same steps as described above
and clicking on the Number tab. In the Category section, click Currency and
type 0 in the Decimal Places box.
Size the chart so that it is 5" wide by 5" high
using the ruler as a guide.
Position the chart attractively in the center of the page.
Look over your chart and resave it with the same name.
